New shared roof deck for a condominium in the West Village, New York. The deck is shared by two sister buildings and is the common area where residents from both buildings can interact. The deck is elevated on steel beams supported from side parapets which at the same time support joists and removable stone tiles. This allowed for existing roof not to be touched while at the same time allowing future work below by easily removing stone tiles. Building is in a historic neighborhood and required approval from NYC Landmarks. Is has turned into a great place for neighbors to meet and create a community.
